An Artisanal Answer
The founders’ answer to an ordinary pretzel was deliberately artisanal. They launched Eastern Standard Provisions in Boston in 2018, seeking butteriness and chew without giving up a tender brioche-like center or a traditional Bavarian crust. Their goal was to "elevate the snack food experience." The company’s verified account places its headquarters in Waltham, MA.
For the soft pretzel itself, artisanal means a handcrafted recipe using high-quality ingredients. It also means no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. The bite moves from a traditional Bavarian-style crust to a light and airy brioche-style interior.
